Discipline and Code Conduct
The smooth functioning of the College depends upon observation of discipline by the students. The College can help the students better when Rules of Discipline are observed properly. Violation of these rules deprives the students of the advantage of the different facilities provided by the College. The following are some of the important rules of discipline.
1. Attendance & Participation
- Students must attend lectures, practicals, tutorials, and examinations as per the timetable.
- Absence from classes, tutorials, or examinations without the written permission of the Principal will not be permitted.
- Students with unsatisfactory attendance, poor performance, or failure to complete required tutorials/practicals are liable to lose their term.
- Students failing to submit compulsory project work in any subject may lose their term.
- Defaulters will not be allowed to appear for examinations.
2. Employed Students
- Employed students will not be granted any concession in attendance or examination rules.
- Details of employment must be mentioned on the admission form.
- Employed students must consult the Principal before taking admission.
- Violation of this rule will invite disciplinary action.
3. Leave of Absence
- Students seeking leave for participation in sports, cultural programs, Avishkar research convention, or other college activities must submit an application countersigned by the teacher in charge.
- Students absent for tests, assignments, or examinations due to illness must submit a medical certificate along with an application endorsed by a parent.
- Absence for three consecutive days requires a leave application signed by a parent/guardian.
4. Attendance Committee
- All decisions regarding the grant of terms will be taken by the Attendance Committee duly constituted by the college.
5. Identity Card
- The Identity Card is proof of a bonafide student and is required for participation in college activities.
- Every student must carry and wear the Identity Card on campus.
- The card must be produced whenever demanded by teaching or non-teaching staff.
- Students must take proper care of the card to avoid misuse by outsiders.
- In case of loss, the matter should be immediately reported to the Principal, followed by a police complaint, and a duplicate card will be issued on payment of charges.
6. General Conduct
- Students must maintain discipline in classrooms and on the college premises so as not to cause disturbance to teachers, fellow students, or other classes.
- Students must wear clean and decent dress while attending college.
- No society or association shall be formed, and no outsider shall be invited to the college without prior written permission of the Principal. The Principal reserves the right to refuse such permission.
7. Disciplinary Actions
Any act of misbehavior, misconduct, indiscipline, or violation of college rules will invite one or more of the following punishments:
A. Warning to the student.
B. Warning to the student along with a letter to parents.
C. Imposition of a fine.
D. Denial of facilities such as Gymkhana, Library, Laboratory, N.C.C., N.S.S., or other facilities for a specified period or for the entire term/year.

Attendance and Grant of Terms:
a. Ordinances 119 & 120
As per the University Circular No. UG/235/98 dated July 3, 1998, Ordinance 119 states:
“For the granting of terms, attendance of 75% in theory, practicals, and tutorials (where prescribed) separately will be required, out of the total number of lectures, practicals, and tutorials conducted in the term.”
b. Ordinance 125
- To keep a valid term at a college or recognized institution, a learner must satisfactorily complete the course of study at the college or institute as prescribed for such term and for the class to which the learner belongs, to the satisfaction of the Principal or Head of the Institution.
- Learners who fail to maintain the condition of minimum attendance due to bonafide illness or any other reason deemed valid by the Principal must apply in writing for leave of absence, either prior to the absence or within two days of commencement of such absence. Failing this, the learner will be treated as a defaulter.
- All applications for leave of absence, along with supporting documents such as a medical certificate (if applicable), must be submitted to the Principal directly and not to any individual teacher.
